Brow Lift Surgery with Dr.Tayani + Larger Font | + Smaller Font

What Is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift can be performed using one of three common procedures: an endobrow lift performed through an endoscope, an open brow lift, or a temporal lift. The procedure corrects sagging in the forehead skin, upper eyelids, and eyebrows. For extreme sagging of the forehead, eyelids and eyebrows Dr.Tayani may recommend a brow lift in conjunction with eyelid surgery for that perfect look your seeking.

Here's how:

Dr.Tayani your brow lift surgeon will maneuver tissues and remove segments of muscles and skins that are responsible for wrinkles or deep frown.
There are four methods to lift your forehead and eyebrow areas:
• the direct lift
• endoscopic lift
• indirect lift (Endotine with upper eyelid surgery)
• temporal lift

Direct brow lift involves one continuous incision, beginning at the level of your ears and going up around your hair line. Depending on where your hair line is, the surgeon will move the incision line to avoid a visible scar. For instance, if you are a man who is balding, the surgeon can make the incision mid-scalp, so the scar can be hidden in the remaining hair.

Endoscopic Brow Lift is preformed with a few shorter incisions created in the scalp. Dr.Tayani will insert a scope into one of the incisions to view the tissues and muscles from a screen. At the same time, he will use another device inserted in another incision to make the necessary alterations. In this procedure, small anchors (Endotine) are used to secure the offending tissue once it's altered appropriately. The anchors are tiny, but sturdy and will last a life time. Endoscopic brow lifts are less invasive with minimal scarring and shortened recovery time.

Temporal brow lift procedure uses two incisions made in a horizontal way parallel to and behind, the hairline in the temple. An incision is carried deep to temporal fascia; and with the help of specially designed instruments the temporal forehead is then elevated.

The Day of Your Brow Lift Surgery

Your surgery will be performed at West Coast Center for Surgeries a Medicare and AAAHC approved surgery center. Your surgery should be completed within two hours and you will be asked to bring someone along who can drive you home and, if you live alone, stay with you the first night or two.
Your brow lift surgery will be under local anesthesia; however, if it makes you more comfortable, you can request general anesthesia (sleep induced).

What to Expect After a Brow Lift

Your recovery is going to vary depending upon which brow lift method you underwent.

In all cases, you will have stitches in the incisions which will need to be removed in about a week. If you have temporary fixation screws, these will be removed in about two weeks (these fixtures are installed beneath the hairline to hold the elevated brow in place).

You will experience swelling and bruising, which may also affect other parts of your face, including your cheeks and eyes. The swelling should be gone in a few days but may last longer. You will be asked to keep your head elevated to help alleviate the swelling for at least two days following the surgery. You can gently apply ice packs to the affected region if you can tolerate it.

If you undergo the direct brow lift method, you will most likely experience more pain during your recovery. Dr.Tayani will prescription a painkiller to take when needed. Some patients also experience itching in the incision areas that may last a couple months.

Patients who undergo surgery via endoscopic brow lift method will also receive a prescription painkiller. Itching can also be a side effect for those who have undergone the endoscopic method.

In all methods, you may also experience numbness or tingling. This will subside over time. Those who underwent the direct brow lift procedure may experience more numbing.

Depending on the brow lift method you underwent your personal recovery rate will vary. Most of our patients return to work after 10 days but, you are on your own timeline. Avoid heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the first few weeks after surgery.

Though side effects are minimal, possible complications can include infection, scars, and complications with eyebrow movement or the loss of sensation around the incision site. It's important to remember that these occur rarely. If you experience fever that climbs over 100’ or excessive swelling or bleeding please contact our office immediately.
